AB <p>A sizeable number of countries in the Asian and Pacific region embarked on transition at different points in time and are currently at different stages of implementation of reforms. The ESCAP secretariat organized a regional seminar to provide a forum for exchange of experiences among these countries. The present volume consists of selected papers presented at the seminar. The papers analyse the experiences of countries of Indo-China and the Central Asian republics, focusing on the nature of reform measures adopted, the impact of reforms and priorities for future action. It is hoped that the volume will assist the countries concerned in making informed choices in their pursuit of economic reforms and contribute to a better understanding by others of the complexities that economies in transition face.</p>
