Abstract

Highlights the importance of the private sector in industrial and technological development in South Asian economies after drawing experiences from other Asian countries; and elaborates deregulation, liberalization and other reforms in selected Asian countries and the lessons that can be learnt for the South Asian countries. Discusses the role of regional cooperation and international assistance for private sector development and privatization in the region.
