Regional EnergyDevelopment Programme
dc.description.abstract
The activity on sectoral energy demand studies in which eight countries of the ESCAP region participated, was launched in 1987. The first phase of the activity was completed in 1990. The Lao People’s Democratic Republic joined the activity as one of the five countries participating in the second phase, 1990-1991.

For this study, two main approaches were proposed: an overall approach using macro economic data and MEDEE-S approach. But the data collected during this study was not enough and coherent to use as an analytical tool. It would be a useful one in the future once the data becomes available. So the macro economic data is the main approach.
