dc.description.abstract | The present profile on women in Sri Lanka attempts to bring together available data and information collected by various agencies,or provided through research studies, to give as comprehensive a picture as possible of the progress so far made in regard to enhancing the participation of women in various social, economic and cultural development programmes and the extent to which these programmes have succeeded in ensuring equality between men and women in the social, economic and political spheres. It is hoped that this profile will, with appropriate modifications, serve as a framework for the continuing analysis and assessment of the situation in regard to the status of women in Sri Lanka. |
