dc.description |
Study by ESCAP Secretariat for the Fortieth Session of the Commission, 17-27 April 1984, Tokyo, Japan
|
dc.description.abstract |
Technology for development is a new-comer among the multitude of plans and strategies which have pervaded the efforts of developing countries in their drive towards socio-economic progress. It is increasingly realized nowadays that technological progress is the crucial determinant in the realization of the twin objectives of eradication of poverty and promotion of rapid socio-economic development. The current technological backwardness of the developing countries of the ESCAP region is primarily due to lack of planned attention to the main tenance and further development of their technological capabilities. Vigorous and renewed efforts are now needed to make up for the lost time.
