Abstract
Governments of countries and areas in the ESCAP region gathered in Bangkok, Thailand from 10 to 12 September 2012 for the Asia-Pacific Intergovernmental Meeting on the Second Review and Appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing. The Meeting was organized by ESCAP and brought together senior officials from 30 countries and areas from Asia and the Pacific. They were joined by representatives of civil society organizations including organizations of and for older persons, and representatives from the United Nations system. The Meeting served as a key regional platform for reviewing the achievements in its implementation and the remaining challenges.
